Bukidnon State University (BukSU) students and faculty participated in the SDG Bayanihan Summit 2025, held on December 6, 2025, at The Catalyst Coworking in Manila. The summit focused on community-driven projects aligned with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The event aimed to empower young individuals to take an active role in SDG initiatives, emphasizing the power of storytelling for social change and fostering collaboration among student leaders, organizations, and community partners. BukSU was represented by a diverse group of individuals, including Ma. Sheinah M. Salvo, Jhon Lester P. Ybañez, Amerah Abdusamad, Keevo Arn J. Delfin, and Louie Jay S. Labastida.
The summit's masterclass sessions covered a wide range of topics, offering valuable insights and practical solutions. These discussions included the importance of public sanitation infrastructure, the benefits of car-free days for sustainable urban planning, the influence of student governments on national politics, the need to humanize data for effective reporting, supply chain sustainability in the circular economy, and the creation of safe spaces for Filipina athletes. The BukSU delegates gained valuable knowledge and ideas that they can implement in their campus and community projects.
This summit provided a platform for BukSU students and faculty to engage with like-minded individuals, learn from experts, and contribute to a sustainable future. It showcased the university's commitment to fostering a community of change-makers who are passionate about addressing global challenges.
